YOUR FIRST STEP IS TO APPLY FOR A SC MARRIAGE LICENSE
It's so easy to get married in SC and you don't have to be a resident of SC to get married in SC!
But you DO have to have a valid SC marriage license, which can be issued from ANY SC Probate Court.
- APPLY IN PERSON OR ONLINE AT RICHLAND COUNTY (SEE BELOW)
- SC REQUIRES a 24-HOUR WAITING PERIOD after applying for a marriage license. For example: if you apply on Monday at 10:00 am, you can pick up your license anytime after 10:00 on Tuesday. If you apply on a Friday, you pick up your license on Monday, so plan ahead if you want to get married on a Saturday or Sunday. Apply for your license by at least Thursday for weekend elopements.
